About Dr. Candace Cartmill
Dr. Cartmill's background includes working with children and families who have significant problems, such as children who have severe acting-out problems at school or home, couples who are on the verge of divorce, or families suffering from a trama that has disrupted their lives and left them on the verge of collapse. The intent of this crisis counseling is to help the couple or family work through the current crisis situation and make important decisions that are hindering progress forward. Working through such significant and painful issues takes more time than the average length of one therapy session, and engaging in a lengthy therapy session or two can often lay the groundwork for a successful outcome.
Dr. Cartmill has a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the Univesity of Texas at Arlington, a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Pepperdine University, and a Ph.D. from the school now called Alliant University, at the San Diego campus. She became a licensed clinical psychologist in California in 1995, and since that time has worked for the Orange County Healthcare Agency, with a focus on children and families who have endured trama that disrupted their lives and family unit. Dr. Cartmill's focus is on resolving the current crisis so the family members can move forward in the healing process, and she will proivde referrals for long-term therapy if requested.
